Sr20det?

since the japanese model of the Altima is the Bluebird with the FWD SR20DET, shouldn't it be an easy swap for the U.S. Altima? its an fairly easy for the RWD ones since i have a 95 Nissan pickup with the SR20DET swap in it, but i haven't heard of anyone with the FWD SR20DET swap in their Alitima yet. can someone tell me if they know of anything in this subject?

it does 14.36@97 mph in the quarter mile, does 0-60 mph in 5.9 sec. according to the g-force dynometer, and i havent tried to top her out yet not enough long straight aways up here in the mountains. and this is from a mostly stock red top SR20DET with the S-15 Silvia 6-speed manual. very fun truck to drive!:sun:

Call me an idiot (wouldn't be the first time) but I seemed to be under the impression that the sr20det was a totally different fit than the Altima... I know it's been done in the G20, but in my brief knowledge base of cars I've never heard of it in an Altima. Just my .02

Yea. The Altima is also known as a Bluebird overseas.

Here is the Bluebird SSS Altessa AWD SR20DET:

http://www.autospeed.com.au/A_0140/P_3/article.html

There is also talk of a Bluebird FWD SR20DET, but I have yet to see any pictures of one or any articles, links of one. The only thing I find is engine companies offereing them for sale, but that could just be the AWD's they are selling and they do not know it. ??????

Anyone have a link to a site with a Bluebird FWD SR20DET that is STOCK and not a swap, I would love to see it!

sr20swap

To my knowledge, the Altima and G20 share the same platform. I would think the sr is a bolt-in swap...

They do not. Altima is not built on the Primera (P) platform, whilst the G20 is.

'Fraid I don't know much about the Bluebird, I mostly know about the Primera and Sentra (Sunny). (The Primera and Bluebird, though on different platforms, did share some suspension components.)

Are you sure about the platform being different? I understand they have different chassis codes, but I've been reading up on the Altima and G20 on some Nissan sites and in magizines, and they keep mentioning the similarities between the two cars--specificaly the drive platform...

Does anyone know the specs on the Altima and G20, such as wheel base/ wheel track, for comparison?

Sorry if this post is old, but the sr20de will fit in a Altima, however with major mods to it, but you will get way better results on putting a turbo on the ka24 bcuz of the torque that it has, and the sr20 from the bluebird will fit if you want to spend 20k in custom work is not worth it.... there is some people that have done the sr20 swap and were some what disappointed at the results.. lets see, you will loose .4 in displacement a lack of torque.. i rather turbo the ka. now the problem about turboing the ka is that on the 97.5 to 01 they have a obd II computer which makes hell to tune..
