Question Should I get a Z24???

I'm thinking about getting a late '90's Cavalier Z24, and i wondered if you guys could give me your input. my uncle has a '88 Z24 with 288,000 miles on it, and it still has the original engine and runs perfectly, so I've heard nothing but good things about it from him. Plus, they're not too shabby...150hp is quite a lot, considering my brother's saturn SC1 only has 100, and i can get that moving quite nicely...

So, anyways...I've always liked Z24's, so i think i might get a used one....what do you guys think?? any good things? any bad things?? thanks....

Thumbs up

hell yeah, go for it, ive got a 94 z and i love it. stick to the 2nd gen cavs. they look cool and are a great ride. the only probably ive ever had with mine is that it runs out of gas. if you find one in good condition and a good price grab it!

You bet you should! ;-) I have a 91 Z24 3.1L and Man I love it. They run great and look great too.. Also if you go and test drive these new cars that are out, most of them have like 1.5L, 2.1L engins and there is nothing to them. Why I like my car so much is that its got some weight to it and it Weight to Power Ratio isnt bad. Also you can do a lot to the car if you wanted.

So I think you would like it ;-)

My $0.02

z24 rules!

If you have the chance to grab that z24, i say GO FOR IT!!
I don't kow about your area, but here, they are getting harder and harder to find, and they are really nice cars.
They look sharp, run well, and are pretty darn quick.
I have a 98 z24, and it's my pride and joy, and was worth every penny I spent on it.
I have never been left walking, and even when it over heated, I still made it home, and the car was fine, and still running.
Tough, fast, and dependable
I'd love to talk to other z24 owners and see if their luck has been as good as mine

Re: Should I get a Z24???

I use to own a 1998 Cav. Z24. Great car. Had some minor problems with it.....the heater hose went on me...and had to replace the tires a few times over the course of a couple of years. Good car, fast car, drinks gas and eats tires.

Re: Re: Should I get a Z24???

Mine does great on gas mileage, actually.
About as good as anything else I have ever owned.
Mine eats anti-freeze, though, not sure why, but about every 2 weeks or so, I have to fill up the res. tank.

Z24's are great cars, i own 2 1990's myself one automatic and the other with the 5-speed Muncie in it. Love the V6 power of the older body z's, but if gas mileage is working against you then go for a newer body 95 and up.
