what the???

I have a 86 non turbo manu. trans beauty that I purchased recently. I recently put 10mm wires on and a k&n filter. with the wires I have standerd ngk plugs, now the car sputters at about 3800 rpm something that never happend b4. Any help on whether I should upgrade my coils or is there a better grade spark plug that can handle the HUGE wires that are now in my baby. No other mods at this time but more to come. Also starting to notice when the car first starts that it is very rough idle for about ten secs. Any help on this matter will be appreciated.

By the way the wires are made by Magnacore or something like that.

my car is all stock and it sputters for about 10 seconds when I start it up... NGK is probably the best spark plug you can buy for your car, unless they sell some that aren't like 4point platinum or whatever and you bought those, but if they are the platinum NGK plugs I doubt thats your problem... maybe the company you bought the wires from is bad? never heard of them so I couldn't tell ya, but my guess would be the coils, even if its not the problem, you'll still have better coils

Okay,

Your problem isnt your coils. The Mazda ignition system is quite powerful. I know guys that have made 400 RWHP on stock ignition.

Your problem sounds like the lovely 3800 RPM hesitation, caused by poor grounding. Basically, this is caused when the EGI system transitions to 4-injector operation (at 3800). The poor grounding (a NOTORIOUS problem on our cars), causes a pause in the transition, causing your hesitation.

Here is a thread on regrounding:
