Lift Question

I have a regular cab prerunner and want to get 33" tires on it. This is what the local 4*4 shop quoted.

"HAVING TALKED TO MY SUSPENSION COMPANIES I AM FINDING THAT A 3.5" OR 4" LIFT WILL ONLY PROVIDE YOU WITH ENOUGH ROOM TO FIT 32" TIRES UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. EXPLORER PRO-COMP HAS 2 KITS AVAILABLE. BOTH ARE 4" LIFT KITS. THE STANDARD LIFT KIT WOULD RUN $1800 AND THE UPGRADED KIT (WHICH WOULD INCLUDE FRONT COIL OVER SHOCKS) WOULD RUN $2650. FABTECH ALSO MAKES TWO KITS FOR YOUR VEHICLE. THE BASIC KIT WOULD RUN $660 AND THE PERFORMANCE KIT WOULD RUN $1075. THESE KITS INCLUDE FRONT COIL OVER SHOCKS, REAR ADD-A-LEAFS AND REAR SHOCKS. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO KITS IS THE FACT THAT THE BASIC KITS FRONT COIL OVERS ARE NON-REBUILDABLE AND THE PERFORMANCE COIL OVERS ARE REBUILDABLE IF THE TIME SHOULD EVER COME WHERE THEY NEED TO BE REBUILT. BOTH COMPANIES RECOMMEND 32X11.50 TIRES WITH THEIR LIFT. IT MIGHT BE POSSIBLE TO STUFF A 33" TIRE UNDERNEATH (IF YOU ARE MAINLY DRIVING ON-ROAD). WE WOULD PROBABLY HAVE TO DO SOME MINOR FENDER SPACING/TRIMMING TO ACCOMPLISH THIS TO AVOID THE RUBBING ISSUES. FOR WHEELS BOTH COMPANIES RECOMMEND A 7 OR 8" WIDE WHEEL WITH A MAXIMUM BACKSPACING OF 4". IF THERE'S ANY MORE INFORMATION YOU NEED PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANKS, BOB

Ok, my question is..If i go cheap with the 650 one, will there be any more expences to it. I dont go off road at all. I just want the look.
If i get it , will he say" o,by the way you also need .......etc...etc"

what you all think. do it or just get 31" tires

Exclamation beware of lifts

talk to Randys Ring & Pinion Service (see website) about possible issues with ring and pinion gears before installing a lift on your vehicle. they will only warranty 31" tires on any Toyota pickup, regardless of the lift.
Tall tires put a tremendous strain on stock rear ends and auto trans, if you have one. Better consider upgrading your rear-end right after installing a lift. At least have a rear-end specialist check the rear-end for binding after the lift is installed and make any necessary adjustments to the driveline angle.

You can run 32" tires with front coil spacers and a rear add-a-leaf. You will have no gearing issues with the 32's but any bigger will cause the problems articulated so well in the previous post.
Synthetic lubes will help with wear and will keep your MPG close to stock. Unless you go to a 17 or 18 in. wheel and speed rated tires equiv. to approx. 32" dia., you should keep your highway speed below 70 mph or even 65. (for safety and reasonable tire wear)
