Want to upgrade engine
I want to change my 2000 Silverado's engine from the 4.3L V6 to the 4.8L V8. Does anyone know of the costs and anything else that would need to be changed in oreder to swap the engines? Any web sites with instructions on doing an engine swap for my truck would be helpful as well.

I am in the final stages of completing this conversion that you inquired about. You would need of course, the complete running block (heads/intake/wiring harness/you get the idea). The fuel lines will not convert so you need new ones. They are $89 brand new from GM. The transmission, alternator, power steering pump, mass air flow sensor, air cleaner box, and junction block from the V6 will all convert. However, you do need new engine mounts. I was lucky and found a set on ebay for $20 shipped. GM wants $75 per mount (must be made of gold). You also need a new ECM. The ECM for the V6 is way different from the V8. The ECM on the V6 has red, blue, white, and black wiring connectors connecting directly under the junction block. The V8 ECM has only red and blue. But don't worry it all connects in the end. I hope this has helped or that you haven't given up on the fact of doing the conversion. I know once I complete mine it will be well worth it. If you have any other questions you can email me at [email protected]

That's what I dropped in my 2000 Silverado, an LS1. You just gotta keep your eyes open for a good deal. I got my motor for $500 from LKQ Corp, which is a crazy deal.
