Exclamation transmission/engine over rev not going....

2001 Chev Silverado 2WD LS model club cab 37000 miles on it--
When accelerating from an on ramp or to "get into it" to pass on the beltway. I am not going anywhere. The engine will rev to 5000-6000 rpm stay for there for a few mili seconds than the transmission locks up and takes off- anyone having the issue too and what have you done to solve it. I hear and read some on the Hypertec programmers, bulletins on a sensor with the transmission--what is the course of action ?
thanks Jason
