Question Air Bag Light

This morning the airbag light on my dashboard was on. I always have the passenger side airbag turned to "OFF", and it stays lit. Now, after starting the truck, about 1 minute later the "OFF" button goes out, and the warning light on the dash comes on.

My uncle thinks there's just a short or something in the switch, but I don't want anyone to get whacked in the head while driving down the road.

Any info?
