Strut and Sway Bars

I am trying to put a strut or sway bar on an 88 integra for some circle track racing i do. Would it work ok if I just take some parts that dont really fit, make them work around the suspension, and weld them in place? I am also having trouble finding a racing chip for my car, if anyone could post a link i would appreciate it.

Sway bars or strut bar? There is a difference . . . . .Why not get the correct part that fits so you don't have to hack up your car.
Sway bar is under the car tieing the left & side together for reduced roll(basically reducing suspension trave during a corner - Upper strut bars are above the suspension and provide bracing(stiffen chasis), lower ties are between the lower control arms also providing brace. No tie bar will control body roll.
For circle track(Is it dirt?) loose any front sway bar & install a massive rear bar. Front & rear upper/lower ties bars would be a wise idea also. Get yourself some skinny ass tires for the rear, you want that to kick out(drift) = fast!

What parts do you plan on removing?

Strut and Sway Bars

Well the thing is, I am 16 and dont have the money to buy the right part. I do however have all of these parts but they are for other various cars, Preludes, Newer Integras, and Accords. I also have access to a welder, so I was wondering if it would be safe to just cut the parts to fit as well as I can get them. The track is asphalt, cant drift, chances are when your rear gets loose you spin out badly. I am on my second car because the first one got loose and i got hit head on at about 70 mph.
Thanks.

Learn how to drive How much banking on the track?
But anyways, many race cars have custom made upper strut bars welded to the chasis. If you do weld it make sure it aint in the way of something like the engine. I wouldn't weld sway bars to the car at all. On your first post I was thinkin' you wanted to cuts/weld the car to make other things fit which is a no-no because its something structural usually.

Are using the car for race only or street use & race?

Thanks.
First things first... If you wrecked from your rear end getting loose on you, then a rear swaybar might be the last thing you want as it'll make the rear of the car much looser than it originally was. Also welding your own parts isn't a good idea. OEM and aftermarket typically use the most optimal design for their parts. Happy motoring and be safe!
