ETS light wont go out?

I have a 1999 sufire co9nvert. The ETS light came on I can't get it to go back off. Does anyone have any ideas or has anyone had the same problem. Thanks

There are many reasons for the ETS light to come on! Your best bet would be to take it to the shop and have them scan it. And go from there.

Check your owners manual. It says to tighten the gas cap.

What are you smoking in your pipe dude???

ETS means ENHANCED TRACTION SYSTEM it has nothing to do with the gas cap!!! A loose cap causes a SES light to come on you will not notice a difference in performance. And since you wrote this in another topic a loose gas cap will not cause your SES light to flash. A flashing SES light means you have a severe misfire that could damage the convertor!!

Is the ets light on also with the check engine light ?I have had this happen and sometimes it was jut a matter of changing the spark plugs. One time it wass on it went off after I changeed my oil Crazy heh. I think it is best to have a diagnostig done on it . You may be able to prvent futher promblems that havent arisenyet . I have a 97 2.4 conv.I get my groceries fast as well a a nice tan

I have used fuel injector cleaner for a quick fix cant off hand remeber the brand name.But in case of a bad misfire ,need to check plugs , always they can tell you alot

It could be just as simple as a short in the thumb switch to turn ETS on and off on the shifter knob. I have a similar problem on my 95.

Man I hate OBD II systems... The problem is probably in a wire as sensors, even ABS brake sensors that take nothing but the wrost treatment from rain snow mud and salt, are pretty reliable thease days. If you take your car to an Auto Zone they will scan the ETS trouble codes for you and that will perhaps give you a starting point and save you money on expensive dealer labor.
