Tranny Question?
I have a b16a with a YS1 tranny, in a 90 CRX. I dont' know much about transmission, and I'm wondering, when I'm in reverse there is a loud semi-high pitched noise. I thought it was just because it is a cable tranny, but I don't know. Anyone else hear this noise?

are you talking about the whining noise that variates with your speed, if so thats normal and almost all manual tranny do it.

there arent any reverse sinchros so the gears are cut a little different. Dont worry about the noise.

all honda manuals have a straight cut revers gear set....the whiring noise is normall....making reverse your strongest gearset......1-5 an the fd is helical cut...weaker but quieter.
