Why do people car so much about the quarter mile of exotics? Their built for cornering around the track, not straight line runs.

let me tell u why.....
quarter mile shows the acceleration of a car, in the race course, the acceleration is very important, rite??
therefore, road&track, caranddriver........always test the 1/4 miles of a car in order to get the performance of a car.

I still agree with texas, I mean, because these cars are ultimate exotics, we're assuming that they all have very good acceleration times. Up or down .4 secs can make a difference, but not NEARLY as much as being able to hold a strong line around a turn.

Thanks for agreeing. That's what I was trying to point out. You don't have to have the quickest straight line car to win a race around a twisting and turning track.

Also american mags test that because americans (bear in mind I live in the US as well) have this fixation with straightline. Euro mags do road tests tot he extreme, the stuff that I think really matters.

Yep. Hence *yawn* NASCAR *yawn* here in the states. And Formula One in Europe.

I've got speedvision, damn glad that I have it because I would have been ignorant about formula 1 racing. Incredible cars, highest per year paid athlete in the world (including M.J. when he was ballin) huge crowds, and some history to look up.

Re: 1/4 mile e/t for enzo

yeah, gotta love schumacher and montoya, but what i really love is the LeMans. especially the highest class with the R8 and Speed8's. You know, the cars that are just out of consumer range (although I did see an R8 for sale at a dealer in Florida). Also, I really like the endurance races, puts a whole new factor into the mix (fuel economy).

Re: 1/4 mile e/t for enzo

i was looking in this months motor tend and it recorded a 3.2 0-60 and 10.8 1/4 mile. i agree, its not all about straight line, but most of the time when there is street racing, it is just a straight run. but of course, you probably arent going to see a ferrari street race against a ricer, but hey, its nice to have a comparison.

Yeah, although I've never seen lower than an 11 for the Enzo. Oh well. One of my favorite lines (can't remember where it was from but) was that "If you're drag racing Ferraris, you're stranger than we thought"
THe only time I like to see Euro exotics drag racing is when they're beating the piss out of some modified crap.
