Theres been this rattling noise thats been comin from the 'teg. I hear it most when the cars kinda idle. At first, me and my friends thought it was the heat shield rattling (very common), but when I took it to a shop, they said that the sound was coming from the pipin of the muffler.
Anyone know what the prob is? And if I got a whole new cat back would the noise go away =P |

need more than thatUsually rattles come from heatshields. Depending on what the cause it, yes a cat-back exhaust may fix the problem. If the noise inst fix, the loud exhaust will solve the problem. Climb under the car yourself while its cool tap on the exhaust & heatshields from front to back or back to front which ever you prefer. |

i ASSUME ur talking about the heat-shield over the cat correct? cuz if not, check that, its the most common reason for a rattle.
do u have a resonator on one of ur pipes? cuz if so, tap that an see if something has come loose inside of it (highly doubt it). its jus tough to think of reasons why piping would rattle...there is nothing to rattle unless they aren't fit together an rubbing or something? good luck buddy...

When I was looking at used integras, I came across a few that had a rattle in the a-pipe. I was told this is a very common problem and could be fixed farly easily. In both cases tho, the rattling only occured during certain rpm's while accelerating, not while idling so maybe its something else....

my gs-r has a rattle that starts at 3000 rpm (sounded like from front of car) ,so thought it was the sheild over the header but the rattle is still there after removing that sheild so now i believe it is the sheild over the cat (i hope ayway cuz its damn annoying) anyway if i figure it out i'll let you know .
by the way what are the specific pipes? A-pipe, B pipe which are which? I've heard both of them refered to when it comes to the honda/acura rattle, and i was also wondering if the exhaust piping was run in the same way on a 93 gs-r as it is on the newer tegs 94-up (same bends and such)? |

A-pipe - between exhaust manifold & cat.
B-pipe - between cat & muffler If it is the cat heatshield, your better off taking a big hose clamp & clamp it down. Rather then remove the shield completely. To repair correctly replace the heatshields-RIP OFF then a mofo |
