Lancia 037 Monte Carlo rally, MFH 1/12

Hi guys,

I haven't posted for a very long time, not many models done since then, a lot started but only few finished, anyhow I should stop whining

Probably most of you heard about this one, really one mega kit with a lot of opportunities to build truly amazing replica of this famous car.

I did something in between, not fully detailed even thou I can still add what I lost motivation to do since major things can be unscrewed.

Since I don't have progress pictures I will try to shortly add my opinion about the kit (only things that can be better and things that are not added):
- rivets...you need like 1.000.000 extra ones
- wires, if you have no pictures it will be a nightmare to add any additional ones
- general fit is more or less ok for multimedia kit, but I couldn't fit the rear hood what ever I did, it is slightly warped but I managed to get it close to fit until the last steps, so now, it is close but can get it fully closed what ever I do.
- some engine things are missing, coil, fuel supply, brake parts etc.
- be careful with decals on front fenders, slight cut is needed to make them right

There are probably some more but I can't recall at the moment.

Ok, I was writing to much, time for pictures, first general overview, closed, opened, combinations...

And some details

That's it

Congratulations ! It must be the 1st 1/12 MFH 037 completed around the world ! Even MFH don't show one on their website

You've done a really great job (and I can see what you mean by 1.000.000 rivets ) on a certainly not easy kit.

Firstly, may I say what a superb job you have made of this kit.

I purchased version 3 of the kit last year and since then have been wondering if I made the right choice. I've read through any number of MFH 1/12th builds and seen some of the difficulties that experienced modellers have had, especially with the fit of the body parts and decals. I've been waiting for a few of the wip's on this kit to come to an end...... You have restored my faith that investing a serious amount of cash has been the right thing for me to do. The completed model looks jaw dropping....

Thank you for posting.

Re: Lancia 037 Monte Carlo rally, MFH 1/12

Thank you guys, glad you like it.

@Paul, don't be sorry for buying it, it is a piece of art kit. There are not many big issues, my only advice is to make chassis skeleton and fit body on it, it is easy since most joints are screws, on front the only problem is angle of the part that front hood is attached to, so this is easy fix, door need just a bit of the adjustment that you can resolve with screw holes. The biggest problem is fit of the rear hood, if i knew there will be an issue I would do this; construct rear frame and fix it to the center of the body, make those rear hood holders and fix side panels on body (the ones where martini sticker is going on), you will then be able to fix this final 0,5mm gap that I couldn't.
All in all one excellent kit that I really enjoyed building.
