98 century rear brake line

Hi
Rear metal brake line is badly rusted and leaking

This is the line that goes from one side to the other.

The line has coils in it, Can you tell me what the coils are for

and can it be run without the coils.

Everything under the car is pretty rusted
Thanks

Re: 98 century rear brake line

The coils can be eliminated in the replacement line. That was likely intended to absorb flex and vibration. Very often coils are placed near the master cylinder to allow for the flex from the firewall and body/frame.
