2008 Silverado fuel smell
Hi all! OK, so I'm just looking for a little advice here. I have a 2008 Silverado with a terrible fuel smell seemingly coming from the front of the box where the gas tank is located. Here's what I DO know. The truck starts fine...not hard starting at all. I have no problems putting gas in the truck. The CEL has not come on, so I'm not getting any codes. I see absolutely no leaks either under the truck or in the engine compartment. Yesterday, on the advise of a friend who used to work at a dealership, I installed a new EVAP Canister Vent Solenoid (the one in front of the fuel tank...not the one under the hood). So basically I'm just looking for a little advice if anyone has had this same thing happen. I'm just not sure what my next plan of attack should be and don't want to start wasting time and money if anyone out there has run into this same issue. Thanks in advance for any replies!!

Re: 2008 Silverado fuel smell
Welcome Aboard!
Since you have already replaced the evap canister, it is presumed that all the vapor and vacuum lines near it and to it were inspected. It may also be advisable to inspect the fuel filler neck all the way to the tank, and the upper vent line from the filler. It might also be good to look at the unit on top of the tank. If you have access to a scanner (not just a code reader) it may be helpful to read the fuel tank pressure sensor after the vehicle has been running for a while and has stabilized the tank pressure. Now that it's a little cooler in the UP you may not notice the fuel aroma as much, but I m guessing the problem has not corrected itself, eh.
