gutting back seat

hey im thinking about taking my back seat out and installing upper and lower stress bars in the back. Will that make a huge difference in weight reduction? Will it be a big difference in performance and stuff? also how do i go about taking the back seat out?

well, removing the rear seat gets rid of about 8lbs, + the weight of the strut bars, so you are gaining a pound or so..

hey man...

I have never personally gutted my interior... Because... Honestly.. its kinda stupid lookin... But.. If your really into speed that much... Its probably worth it... My friend had the same car I do (97 LX) and took the rear seats, passenger seat, carpet, console, parts of the dash, air bags, trunk carpetting, trunk floor, rear door panels, and back window bay out.. and added a strut bar in the trunk (Neuspeed) and one in under the hood.. And it really improved his handling... And it actually made the car alot lighter... But.. he ended up putting dynomat in the back where the seat was.. because the exhaust was a little loud in the car... lol.

Ok thanks for the response, and I am getting a new engine chris sometime this spring I need to make some money first. Im either swapping in a JDM B16 of a JDM GSR. If I have the money for the GSR I will but I doubt I'll have it by then, hopefully just enough for the B16. I found a place to do it about an hour or so away who do the complete swap (engine, labor, parts, etc.) for 3500(B16), and 4400(GSR). I'm only 16 and have a summer job that pays me $7.50 an hour. I got football during the fall, so as soon as football ends im going to get a job somewhere. My goal is to get the new engine swapped in by like end of May or so.

So how much do carbon fiber hoods help in weight reduction? And im whiting out my car, going to get white rims, white mesh grill, stuff like that so do you think a carbon fiber hood would look good on a red car with that stuff? Like I see other cars who basically black their cars out, black rims, carbon fiber hood, etc. so what do you think?

rims usually are heavier than the stock alluminum pieces of crap civics come with , also yea carbon fiber hoods do help alot. But in my mind Weight reduction is expenive to do . CF hoods are mighty expensive just for a hood.
