Fuel Smell

Here are the symptoms of my smelly 505 GR Family Estate.

1. When travelling with the windows closed there is a faint smell of fuel in the back seats only.

2. Having the fan on makes no difference.

3. Open the windows and a strong smell of fuel drifts into the car.

4. When not started for about a week, there seems to be minimal fuel in the carb. It starts, but then stalls and your have to turn it over until the fuel gets through to the carb. It seems the pipe from the tank to the carb is empty.

I have replaced the hose from the steel pipe to the card.
I have replaced all the rubber hoses in the engine bay with the exception of coolant hoses.
I have got underneath and checked there are to fuel leaks in the steel pipe or the fuel tank.

I am guessing that the problem can only be one of 3 things:
1. Leaking carb. But there is no sign of this and why would the hose drain over a week?
2. Leaking fuel pump. But need to drop the fuel tank to check this, and again, why would the hose drain over a week?
3. Fuel being ejected from the carb someway? again, why would the hose drain over a week?

I desperately need some ideas.
