[911 tribute] Revell Porsche 911 Carrera RS

Hey. This is the old Revell kit molded in yellow. It won't be a traditional build but rather something Magnus would start on and another Porschephile would finish. I'm having a hard time finding "Carrera" or "Porsche" decals in red but I'll find something that'll work I'm sure. More to come as time allows. It will be painted with fingernail polish (my current favorite medium) but the exact color will have to be mixed.

Thanks Phil! I would like to warn that I'm nt a "purist" type of builder so there's no telling what may come off of my bench but I assure it will be done with a little good taste.
I wanted so badly to use the pictured wheels but they are 4-lug wheels. I have a color combination picked out but that may change depending on the final wheel selection. Here's my progress so far...

gosh, is that the old kit from the 1980s?
how is the plastic holding up in that one? I have several from around the same time and I'm not if it's how they were originally but the body shell is softer than I'm used to.

wow, so nice start for a real cool car.
also i bought this recently and the new revell model...is exactly this one.

Looking at the plastics I think there should be a mistake in the front and rear bumpers: look at theme, they are quite squared while the real porsche bumper is curved. It is probably the majior shape issue to be fixed, noting impossible. (check also the finished models looking from above between the 2 front lights...).

the wheels u choose are really nice too.

I am also preparing some extra decals for the carrera writings on the door sides. shame newer revell ones are so good but printed .. in white letters only

I've been looking at this kit too, both old and new versions. It's too bad the decals are only in white as I wanted a set for an old EM Fujimi in my stash.
Back to yours... An interesting choice of colors, i'm not too sure about the rims, though I know you'll make it work. I'm thinking FNP for the finish on my project as well though I still need to find an 80's shade.

Thanks guys; I had to get it into primer so I could see where the problems were; that bright yellow plastic is awful!! The colors shown will be mixed to make a color of a Porsche I found on Instagram. I just can't find the picture anymore. I have some red "Carrera" decals on the way from a couple of sources so hopefully I'll get pretty close to the vision in my head. Thge plastic is actually quite sturdy for such an old kit. I just have a few issues to correct on it. As much as I really want to use those wheels, sadly I cannot justify using 4-lug wheels on a car with 5 lugs. Something will come up though. Hopefully. I got the paint applied. Not exactly what I wanted but it'll work. Pardon the 1/24th scale "Carrera" decal on the 1/25th scale body. It serves its purpose.

The Ronals look like they belong on an old 1989 Mercedes.
