935 k3 anyone?

does anybody know the quality of scale coachworks porsche 935k3?
is this company still active and do they have any website?
after reneissance seems the only choiche around for static models.
I like it a lot and will make the jagermeister car. does anybody already build it? I try with search button but I get only weird answer system messages (as well as for PM´s).

Re: 935 k3 anyone?

The Scale Coachworks kit was very good quality. Castings were clean, straight and pin hole free and parts fit was very good also. Decals were also top notch, done by Cartograf. Unfortunately I don't think Dan is in business anymore and I know the kit is out of production. He used to be a member of our model club and I still see him on occasion at modeling events.

Re: 935 k3 anyone?

There is a copy of that kit sold on eBay. I'm waiting for mine to arrive, so cannot comment on quality yet.
Looks nice on photos, though. Here is the link - Custom-FX 935K3

Re: 935 k3 anyone?

Hello Lovegt40,

the quality of the Scale Coachwork kits is very good, as mentioned by Lemansnut.
They had the Apple Computer, Jägermeister, Coke and Sachs version, all 4 very nice liveries.

The CustomFx is an exact copy from the SC, it bought mine without decals on Ebay.

There's also the LMP porsche 935, comparable with the SC kits, very similar. This was the LeMans 1980 version, the white and pink car.

Another one is the Black Box 935, with the other type of side intakes.
Same livery as the Renaissance one.

I'm also looking for pictures of build K3's, I've seen very few of them.
Looks like I have to start building line's, only problem is time.

If there are pictures from build K3's please post some.
I'm happy to hear the decals from the SC K3's are very good.

Thanks, regards,
Joka-1

Re: 935 k3 anyone?

I'm building one up at this time. I am making some modifications and upgrades to the kit parts. The casting quality is good. The wheels are recast from the AMT/ERTL Porsche 935. Interior detail is minimal. Accuracy appears good, but there are differences from car to car, so you need reference matl for an accurate build of a particular car. Decal art work is excellent, but the film used for the decals is stiff. I am using a mix of Microsol and denatured alcohol to get them to conform to shape. I can post some pics if there is interest.

I'm hoping for an MFH 935 now that they seem to have 'found' Porsche..... A pipedream perhaps, but their is no harm in dreaming.

Re: 935 k3 anyone?

do u think porsche 935 wheels are suitable for scalecoachworks/custom fx models?
wasnt the amt/ertl 935 a reissue of old esci/italeri baby porsche?

Re: 935 k3 anyone?

Paolo,

Sorry to hi-jack your thread but I have a question. The link above to the 911-934-935 model pages is great and is a wealth of information. The person who is maintaining that page is obviously someone who frequents the AF boards due to his many links to these pages. I'm wondering though who is correct. He has linked to my builds here at AF for the Tamiya 24001 kit and the Aardvark Models AM-4 transkit. I'm fine with the links that is not an issue at all. I'm wondering about his facts regarding the first 935 in his comments about the Aardvark trans kit. The author of the page is quoted as saying about the Aardvark transkit:

Quote:

'Icon Modeler' used this transkit to build #1 as raced at Mugello in 1976.
My primary source of reference that I used when building the Aardvark kit was http://www.jacky-ickx-fan.net/web/home.php which oddly enough today as I'm posting the link does not work. If it did work I'm fairly curtain that you would be able to find photographic facts that would show that the 1976 Mugello Winner was the car exactly as Tamiya has made the kit and that the 1976 Vallelunga Winner is the #1 car as depicted using the Aardvark kit. Also that the race that the nose was swapped between practice and the race from the 911 style nose of the Aardvark kit to the flat nose Tamiya version was the #9 car at Silverstone 1976.

Can someone please confirm?? This has really got me scratching my head...

Thanks

Re: 935 k3 anyone?

also I note the guy often refers at AF forum. Hope he will add also the link to our 911 nice gallery .
I note he also writes the scale coachworks model has some mistakes too and is itself also identical to another model:

Resin curbside model of the 1979 K3 version. It is identical to the LMP/Little Garage kit with a few amendments plus new decals. Decals for Apple Computers #71. Picture shown is not true box art, but the label on the box.
