1/24 Metro 6R4 profil 24 Duez-Lux Ypres 1986

Oke Guys, my first wip on this forum. ;D
I`ve been working on this car for a little while now. I`m using profil 24` belga RAC version and with some adjustments it should become the Ypres version.

First job, making sure that chassis, body and dashboard fit. That was not a big problem be course the body`s of the re-released metro are in far better condition than the early ones. After body and chassis fitted i painted the chassis white(TS-26).
I bought a AB last year but somehow i still get better results using the tamiya spray cans.
After the paint was dry i made the roll cage, using the original one(in white metal) and customized it to a better fit

As you can see i started on the interior. Not much yet and i`m planning to put some more details on there.

For further detailing i`m gonna use this stuff

Second job are the wheels. I sanded them down and replaced the original wheel nuts by metal ones.

If started on the body recently. Biggest concern was that the resin is very thin on some places so i had to bring on a layer of putty on the inside so i was able to scratch out the panel lines

And this is where I'm at now

Most difficult so far one this build where the decals. First it was not that easy to find all the necessary pics to do the decals but with the help of some rally friends i got everything i needed. Second problem was drowning them. So i learned to work whit coral draw with the following result

Next job is the interior and after that i`m gonna start on the engine. This is gonna be a long build course this is what i hope the final result will look like

greets Philip

Hi Philip,

you can imagine I'll follow very closely this build !!

PM me your address, I will send you something you may appreciate to have to replicate a part of the engine, I don't say more right now...!

Do you think these resin kits are worth the money for the quality that you get?

I just don't see the value for money even though they are more rare runs of kits.

I would love Belkits or some of the big boys to make some retro GpB rally models. There is a severe lack of new rally car models on the market.

Hey Kaj45rpm,

This is an never ending discussion. Does an expensive kit give you value for money?
There is a lot more work on a multi media kit and the quality is most of the time not that good (try building a Narton kit and you know what i mean).
I can just speak for myself so hear it goes : I`m a lucky guy. I`ve got a job that pays nice money and i`ve got a lovely wife that supports my hobby. So i am lucky that i can build the cars i love without looking at the price. I`m a sucker for old rally cars and i`ve got a lot of resin ones be course there are no other available. But don`t get me wrong, i don`t necessarily go for the expensive kits. I see a car i like, go check my options and then i`ll decide. And you have to agree : turning a really bad kit into a nice model, even if it takes a year, gives you way more satisfaction then putting a tamiya kit together in 2 weeks.
So yes, i think they are great value for money. I`ve got about 30 multi media kits at home an i`m gonna love building every single one of them.

greets Philip

Ow, and about Belkits going retro. I know one of the guys from belkits, and got i tried, but there are only modern rallycars planned.

Re: 1/24 Metro 6R4 profil 24 Duez-Lux Ypres 1986

It`s been a while since i updated this build. I just wasn`t in the mood for the metro. But i`m back at it now. I`m gonna try to build my oob`s during the week and the metro in the weekends(when i`m not at a rally ).
I started with the gearshift. Didn`t like the original one so i used some bits and pieces and made a new one.

Then i scratched a little cylinder

and put it in place.

Up to next week.

Re: 1/24 Metro 6R4 profil 24 Duez-Lux Ypres 1986

It`s been a while since i worked on the metro. As you know i wanted to open the trunk of the car. But it is an expensive kit and i really don`t wanna mess this one up. So this morning i finally found the courage the put the saw in the body.
And thank god, it went really good. So you can expect new updates very soon now.

Re: 1/24 Metro 6R4 profil 24 Duez-Lux Ypres 1986

Oke, time to update the metro. The last week i`ve been working on the interior of the car. First the dashboard. It`s cleaned up, sprayed mat black and received a couple of layers of tenco`s Scale Fabric Black spray. Then i start detailing the dash using some toggle switches from hobby design and mish mash i got out of old watches. Added some wires and this is the result

Next job, the door panels. I added some extra`s, including the opening mechanism.

The seats were sprayed mat black and received a couple of layers of tenco`s Scale Fabric Black spray. Used profil`s PE and silk cotton to do the seat belts.

After putting everything in place this is were i am now.

The interior is nice filled up now but there is still one thing missing in this kit. So i started making a CB, after that is finished, the fun start, i`ll start building up and improving the engine.
