What is the verdict...

...on the newer vans?

Are the 2008 and up vans measurably better? Are the 2005-2007 worth getting into if they have been maintained properly, or are they still plagued by the old tranny issues?

I'm actually thinking about getting a newer one if I can sell my '96 because they are so much easier to get in and out of than my Suburban. At what point are they considered really reliable?

Re: What is the verdict...

There hasn't been a Chrysler Corp van made that is "really reliable". Even 2011/12 s are having their problems. Reasonably reliable would be a better term. One fact that is always reliable is the newer the vehicle the more reliable it will be. Holds true for everything under the sun including you and me. I'd go for the newest van you can afford.

Yeah....it's too bad. They are such useful vehicles, I just wish they would get the bugs out.

I noticed you were in avionics. My wife retired in '94 as a branch chief, F15 avionics, Mindenhall as I recall.
