McLaren Engine Question
Ok, live on most cars they can't go beyone say, 250,000 miles (aver.) without a rebuild, right? How many miles can the bmw engine in the mclaren go before starting to well, fall apart?

I know that the GTR engines were rated for 10,000kms between rebuilds. I'm not certain if the same schedule applies to the road cars, but I would guess not.
There was one 1995 GTR that raced all the way through to the 1997 season without a rebuild and reportedly, when it was dyno tested by the factory, it was only down 40hp on power. I'm pretty certain that with proper maintenance the engine is capable of running for almost as long as many other high performance engines without a complete rebuild. XOTech or Faisal/tvrfreak would be the best people to respond to your queston about the actual service interval scheduling. >8^) ER |
