Tin-y sound? (with video)

Does anyone have any idea what this sound might be on a 2004 4x2 small block Tahoe LS? Not the breaks, I know that sound. I can't figure out what the deep rattle-tin sound is.

Ah yes a GM. I've heard that sound a time or two. It's an exhaust shield rattling under the car. One of the shields around or above the catylitic converter or near an exhaust pipe. It'll usually only resonate at a certain RPM then goes away. Many times you can tweak them and the noise goes away.

It's the heat shield above the muffler, it breaks and rattles. There is a replacement available. You can also get large worm gear clamps, like big hose clamps, that will fit around the muffler and clamp the shield, NAPA sells the clamps.

it is quite possible that a baffle in the muffler is the cause . seen that before. over time this will wear holes in the muffler skin.

most times the heat shield do loosen especially if corroded. I use .030 stainless steel wire and wrap around the shields . this will out last the vehicle. no worry of the shield flying off.
