Off Topic Problem

Ok everyone I had just posted a Need For Speed Underground thread in here but it got moved. I know this isn't the right section I even said that in my post. But I posted it here because I like the modeling community on AF. I don't even visit any other sections and my link brings me straight to the car modeling section.

Blueboost and I believe there needs to be a "lounge" section or off topic section underneath the car modeling section of AF. I wanted to share what I did with you guys and many of you even viewed or replied to my thread. I didn't want it to be in the Games section of AF because I don't ever visit there and the people I wanted to see it (you the modeling guys) won't now.

Anyone else think a lounge or off topic section is a good idea??

Re: Off Topic Problem

yeah, we need a lounge igor, get us a lounge man, with a full bar and free strippers, that'd be a good idea.

Having something like that sounds like a good idea. I think we should. I agree, there are somethings that I wish I could post here, but then they get moved.

Re: Off Topic Problem

as you said JG, I do agree with you on that. I've had some things I've wanted to share here and been quite hesitant because it seems frowned apon. the thread gets moved immediately. I would like to thank Jay for being so kind as to leave a link in our section so ppl can see the thread, thanks Jay!

I don't know if this is possible but it seems like something we should at least discuss a little bit.
I understand there is an off topic and coffee break section here, but how do we know other modelers are frequenting these area's of the forum?

I totally agree, I like to ask questions to ppl who i am more comfortable talking/chatting with, and i dont appreciate being called a NEWBE when i go into other forums, I no most ppl around the modeling section recognize my name (probably not, but i like to think im populat ) anyways, i think a lounge/off topic section would be a great idea, maily because most of the model guys dont frequent the other areas of these forums, for instance, i dont own a car, so i dont waste my time going into the car section... ya no?

Whether or not you want to make full use of the entire spectrum of forums on AF is your choice, but as has always previous been stated to the 'new gang' that comes in here demanding new sections be added to the modelling forum.

There is already a games section with a huge community of visitors, including people from the modelling section, that frequent it, they are all passionate about the games like you, why not visit it and get to know them and share with them.

There is already an Off Topic section to AF, it is called Coffee Break, you're all welcome to come over there and join in the general daily banter and jokes that happen there.

It's a pity you guys don't know how often the 'Off Topic' section demand has gone through this place, you'll get the same answer as the previous ones too.

If you really want to become a part of the AF community as a whole, start visiting other forums outside the modelling forum, it's not as scary as you think.

Yeah, I hardly ever go into anyother forum, and when I do, that is just into the diecast forum. I don't see any other threads, and I don't even know what forums there are here. I just found out yesterday that we have a Rally forum here.

well, these are very good points you have. I've been here a while, don't consider myself a newbie and I haven't seen any posts about this recently though.

look at it like this. if there was a modeling forum on the net right now that catered to what seems to be the general "taste" of what we like to model I would belong to it. But this is the only online forum that does cater to our taste in modeling. We all have a similar interest in this respect. From time to time I would like the oppertunity to share things with the other modelers that isnt exactingly model related. but I can't. I see this as a problem. the solution you propose (going to other areas of the forum) isn't going to work. Most of us only visit this section it seems. I, like JB, have my shortcut setup directly to the modeling section of AF. no matter what, the system btwn us modelers would break down. for example.. my off topic post yesterday wound up in the skyline section whereas JB's ended up in the video game section. but if we had an off topic for modeling specifically, both of those posts would have ended up there.

its really not a big deal, but it is.

Re: Re: Off Topic Problem

Eugene I've seen your drawings in the sketching section, never anywhere else. Shame, the skyline forum don't have no 4dr's for me to get more inspiration for my r31, I'm so enthused because I made a blitz inspired box kit.

like blue boost said above.

I have actually gone to the other sections of AF occassionally but they don't seem as strongly rooted together (maybe its just me).

What is this general taste?
I belong to several online forums and they are all equally diverse, each one is what YOU as an individual make of it though.

Do you care to elaborate on this apparent system?
Is there some sort of code I don't know about, perhaps a secret handshake?
You post ended up where it should be, in the Skyline section. Your basic assumption that EVERYONE here LOVES Skylines is somewhat misguided to be polite.
If I want to look at Skylines or read about Skylines, I go to the Skyline section, the same for the fact of if I want to read about games.
I come to the AF modelling section to read about model cars, I don't care if somebody has the highest score in a game or just saw the new Evo.8 WRC Lancer, I can go to the relevant forums for that if that is what I want to know about.
Is there something confusing about that picture?

I am tired of coming here and reading threads about people bitching. I am tired of reading threads from the mods telling people how to behave like civil human beings. I am tired of people that bitch because they post something in the wrong place or something they shouldn't have posted at all and it gets deleted or moved.
If everyone could just follow the basic forum guidelines and be civil, half the problems wouldn't arise.

It's just you, people take time to get to know you before they make you part of the core group. If you only go in, make one post, and leave, you're never going to know anyone.

freakray, if your so tired of coming here, don't.

don't act like you don't understand. you know EXACTLY what I meant by my post. So no I won't elaborate.

Your attempts to be just nice enough to not be a complete @sshole hasn't fooled me not once. I knew you'd jump all over my @ss eventually. It was just a matter of time.

Not once did I ever complain, I only suggested we discuss this. Shall I never post in a forum? isn't that what its for? discussion? would you like that no one ever makes suggestions for improvement?

I even stated its no big deal, I don't see any whining tone in that.
go change your pad.
