Maserati 4CL Streamliner 1939 Tripoli Grand Prix 1/24 - Quickbuilder -

German Slot company Carrera just released some vintage Grand Prix 1/24 cars in their Digital124 line. Very interesting for me is the Maserati 4CL alloy-bodied streamliner as raced in the 1939 Tripoli GP. Despite a few 1/43 models, this car had never been made in model car from before. Reference for the real car is very limited and I don’t know which reference Carrera used and how accurate the model is. Nevertheless, the model with its excellent (Maserati Red) painted plasticbody and accurate numbers is so nice, that I tried to built a curbside model using only the body of the slotcar.

By constructing a simple chassis from styrene sheets, using wire-wheels and tires from Profil24 1938 Alfa GP, steering wheel from the parts box and some detailing of cockpit and driver figure, this model is a real ‘quickbuilder’ and will be a rare addition for any vintage Grand Prix car model collection.

Excellent subject matter, we really need more model kits like this beautiful car. Thanks for sharing this.

Beautiful car and model, the figure looks very nice to, this is the type of model that could be made into a nice, simple and small race display diorama.

I also bought this slotcar for the same reason. The wheels are smaller than on the 2.9(308), I think 16 or 17 inches on this car. It was a small car for back in 1939. The details do look pretty good from the pictures I have.
