OK so I've heard that you can't repair a plastic gas tank leak.......so if there is a hole in the plastic why can't you just plug the hole with a fine threaded bolt and nut and some neopreme washers and sealant? In theory I feel it would work. I am from the old school where everything is fixable if you can apply it to the repair. I can see if it were a crack, but this is a small hole. Ideas?? Thanks

Re: Plastic Gas Tank Repair
I wouldn't trust a fine threaded screw. A tek screw would probably work but I would probably trust a fuel proof epoxy or silicone more. Just get all the oil and grime off before you begin.

Re: Plastic Gas Tank Repair
I wouldnt want to try it. A metal tank can be repaired many ways but a plastic tank flexes some with weight making repairs hard to remain solid.

Re: Plastic Gas Tank Repair
OK so I took the tank off and made the hole round and put a 1" 5/16 piece of gas line hose through the hole, then a 1 1/2 inch 5/16" bolt thru the hose and tightened the bolt till the ends mushroomed. Then I filled the tank with enough gas to cover the "plug" and let it set soaked with gas for three days. No leaks so far so it appears that it has worked.....so far. Maybe this summer I'll drop it again and replace it, but for now all seems well. Tomorrow is installation day.
