front window leaking;black trim crumbling

water is getting in the front of the caprice wagon. we noticed the black plastic trim is crumbling on the sides of the windshield . where do we buy it? The dealer said it was discontinued and i am looking online so far without success.

you need to give the vehicle details.

for a quick fix use dow corning black 795 sealant. use soapy water when leveling out this product. this will not get hard and is used in the glass install with metal . use mineral spirits to clean up. stays soft flexible and has a great amount of adhesion to glass metal and plastics. non corrosive to bare metal. good chance you have a rot hole under the windshield.

Re: front window leaking;black trim crumbling

the window will have to be removed and the old urethane removed and glass cleaned and replaced the glass on the new urethane. the black plastic that attached to the crome could be replaced ( new gm is $50 a side and $104 for the top crome strips) or if your skill permits use rvt silicone. this can be smoothed over the old black plastic to look like the factory trim. NOTE this will Not stop the water leak. this is a finish trim that helps deflect air and dirt from building up under the glass.
