wheel bearings
When I drive I get a load humming sound. When I turn the steering wheel to the right slightly the sound goes away until the tires are straight again.
Is this my wheel bearing and which one is it? |

Re: wheel bearings
It is your wheel bearing but it is hard to tell which one without listening to the car. Try driving the car with the windows down and see if you can localize it. Unfortunately you will have to replace the entire hub to change the wheel bearing as they are a complete unit.

Re: wheel bearings
I had it change and it was the right rear wheel bearing. I don't understand why they go bad. This car has 75,000 miles and I had to change 2. I also have a 2000 Regal with 175,000 miles but I have not had to change any on that car yet.

Re: wheel bearings
It is strange why these sealed bearings go bad but more often than not they will go out. I had a Pontiac years ago that the right front bearing went out at 40K miles. I guess they just don't make them like they did years ago.
