Question Dodge Grand Caravan 93

I have Dodge Grand Caravan 93', 3.3L. Unfortunately I am getting no heat. I have survived last winter but it was bad. So I'd like to get it fixed for this winter. Problem is that I don't know exactly where to start.

I have replaced water pump and termostat. I am going to check in and out house temperature on heat core.

Engine cooling system is working just fine. Engine gets hot quickly and stays on constant temperature after that. When I turn fan on with heat set to MAX I can feel warm air for a second or two. It is just a trace of warm air. That’s it, no more heat for me.

Can anybody of you give me a suggestion, where to start, what to check to find out exactly where my problem is?

Thanks a lot for responses. Charles

Hmmmmm,

I have a 90 caravan with a 3.0 and have alot of experience with it. On my van, there is a valve that is vacuum operated that feeds the heater core. Presuming the design of yours is similar, I would look around the firewall for a black square metallic cube that has a 5/8" heater hose going into it and a very small vacuum line attached to it also. One of three possibillities may exist;

1) the valve is corroded shut
2) the vaccum line is leaky to the valve and there isn't enough vacuum to open the valve.
3) the heater switch on the console panel is not switching vaccum to the heater valve

Make sure you don't have a vacuum leak feeding the valve. If it looks okay, pull the vacuum line off the valve and get a cheap hand operated vacuum pump at the auto parts and connect it to the valve. Work the pump until the gauge on the pump shows a vacuum and then see if the heater starts giving off heat. If the valve is operating correctly, the hand pump should open the valve and start the flow of hot water through the valve.
