I hope someone here has a fix for this issue. I own a 1998 4Runner SR5 v6. Whenever I am driving the vehicle and hit the brakes, the park lights in the front turn on. It even does this when I'm stopped, and the vehicle is not started. This causes the buzzer to sound as if I left the lights on. I know this isn't a big deal, but it does trouble me to know that there is a possible electrical problem with the vehicle. Please help, for I have changed or checked all the fuses and bulbs.

Re: Park lights coming on
There is a short in the taillight harness or fixtures that is connecting the brake light circuit to the tail lights.
Most probable cause would be if you have a trailer light conversion adapter. |

Re: Park lights coming on
Yes, that is a distinct possibility. The previous owner has connected a trailer wiring harness on it. Perhaps he made a mistake in his wiring. I'll disconnect/critique his wiring and see if this resolves the problem. That does sound promising.
Thanks. |
