brand new to your forum...
Hey guys, if you didn't guess it from the title, 'm brand new to your forum. Well not yet, technically. But that's why I'm here, for your advice. I have a talon tsi AWD that's gonna be sold here soon, and I'm looking for a nice 5.0. Anyway, I found one in the pittsburgh area (close to home). It's a 1989 5.0 LX Hatchback with 99,000 miles on it. Has 3.(something) gears (mind you, I don't know mustangs like I know DSM's), and a pair of flowmaster mufflers. He wants $5,000 for it. Is this too much, or just about right? Like I stated before, it's a big change between my DSM and a mustang, so I don't know what's good pricing and what's not, and what's high mileage, and what's not. I'm not even going to ask reliability either, cause I know that's a car specific thing, but would anyone like to re-assure me that these are more reliable than DSMs? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: brand new to your forum...
I would say its a little on the high side, but its what you are willing to spend. Always look at more than one car, it will give you a better idea about what you are buying.

Well, no offense to anyone, but it seems like the eclipse forums certainly helped me a lot more than you guys, and certainly posted far more times... I'm still waiting for someone to answer me, mind the one post that really didn't answer my questions. What's high mileage? And I know it's what i'm "willing to spend", that's not the question, the question is "what is a reasonable price". When you say "high side", can you give me an average of what might be on the realistic side?? Thanks a bunch to skyline who actually gave some advice... is this forum really that dead? Just not very responsive to newbies? I'm not asking anyone to write a book, but this thread has been viewed 26 times, and posted once!

Re: brand new to your forum...
Now dont go getting your panties in a wad
.Now, just fyi but your question is kinda vague. Nobody can tell you what that car is worth from what you told us. Hows the body? Hows the interior? Good tires on it? Aftermarket wheels or stock wheels? Pony wheels or 10 holes like the ones on my car in sig? Any proof of maintenance? AOD or T-5 tranny? Find out more about the gears. 3.08? 3.27? 3.55? 3.73? Flowmasters welded into the stock exhaust? Or is it a catback system? Anything else been done to the exhaust? Headers or h/x-pipe? Are the flowmasters just dumped or do they have the common chrome tailpipes? These cars like most cars are very dependable when taken care of. The stock 5.0 cars are getting over 200,000 miles. Just remember, the more you mod, the more power you make, the less likely you are to see 200k-250k miles. Anything else?

basically unless its had some money put in it, it's too high.
if it's a stick and in average condition, the price is about 1k overpriced.

Mileage for these cars.... 150,000+ is very common I mean the newest one's are 12 years old what do you expect?
Your fairly stock(your car here would qualify), good body, decent paint, fox body average about $3,000. Obviosuly adjust it for condition, miles, aftermarket parts. I want some proof that 99,000 miles is correct and not a rolled over odometer also the car needs to be uber clean paint, body and interior wise and a stick to be worth 5g's.

agreed. assuming the milage is correct and it is a stick with a few mods, i wouldn't really expect it to go for under 4k. But that being said, i don't think i'd pay over 4500.
just out of curiosity, what color is it and what kind of wheels?
