Question Short Shifter Install HELP!

hey there, new to AF, I'm starting my build up from a 97 EX with the SOHC, well to make a long story short, I was installing my short shifter lastnite, everything went as planned, then after I dropped the car off the jacks, and started playing with the shift pattern I noticed that the bottom of the shifter is now rubbing on the top part of the exhaust, especially when going to 5th or reverse....any ideas on correcting this?.....i took off the middle support for the exhaust that helped some but it's still rubbing on the exhaust......

Thanks

Guys i did mine myself...the correct and only way it should be done is get lower exhaust hangers. Thats what you need to do. You shouldn't be bending anything.

i dont think you should even bother putting a short shifter on, if the company who design the short shifter knew you will have to modify the exhaust pipe to make it fit, they should of never made it in the first place. just from what i know, most short shifter don't fit into the stock 96-00 civic model without modifying.

you know rockerdude has a good point...but then again...does anything we buy for our cars just fit right on with out any modifications?? I guess you just have to sacrifice to get what you want.
