Exhaust System in '98 GS

I really need some help finding a good exhaust system for my '98 Eclipse GS non-trubo. I've looked around and it seems like APEXi and MagnaFlow are the most-known brands. APEXi however is very expensive, but it does seem to look a lot better than MagnaFlow's. Is it worth buying an exhaust system from these people? Here's the cheapest MagnaFlow price I found...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2469576056

Can I do better for a cheaper price? I basically want the lowest-sounding exhaust system with the best performance. One that isn't annoyingly loud and looks pretty cool. I have no experience on this at all, which is why I came here. The main reason I'm hesitating to buy that MagnaFlow system on EBay is because I've never seen it on an actual car. I'm just afraid of how the off-center tip near the large canister might look, and I was wondering if anybody had pictures of that same system. I'd really appreciate any help on this topic... Thanks in advance!

Haha, maybe that's why it's an awesome deal. Either because nobody knows aobut it or it sounds horrible. I just looked around on the forums and saw that a lot of people were against MagnaFlow.. Ugh, APEXi N1 is so expensive, though...

Apex is expensive yes, but it's good. For a N/A car I think Greddy evo2 is really good. I just put one on my friends 02 eclipse gt. It sounds amazing! They are up there with the apex'i though for prices. If all else fails, buy the muffler alone for the apex (about 150 bucks) and have a muffler shop bend you some piping. shouldn't be too expensive. Good luck and enjoy.

Re: Exhaust System in '98 GS

First it is only 2.25", but if that is what you are looking for.

Second, Magaflow sounds like shit and a half, it is raspy as hell.
You want a good sounding exhaust for a good price go with OBX Type-h (it is cheaper than that). I am going to get is soon. And it is should sound VERY nice, it is very deep. The type-h is 2.5". I will try to get some sound clips up when I get it. Also the muffler on the Type-h has a tunable silencer, so you can make it as quite or as loud as you want.

I looked around and haven't seen anything BAD about the OBX Type-H exhaust system.. So I guess I'll go ahead and go with it. I looked on EBay and found it for $279 shipped. That a good deap? I also saw OBX Type-R exhaust... Is there a difference in sound/performance?

Re: Exhaust System in '98 GS

Wait where did you find it for that price the chepest i found on ebay is 310 shipped. Please send me a link. It is a good deep. And the Type-H is OBX's hightest flowing exhaust. I am not sure between the sound difference but I'm sure there will be.

PLEASE send me that link for 279 shipped

I'll give you the link as soon as I get a response on his shipping price... It says in the item description that it's $55 to ship anywhere in CA, but at the bottom of hte page in the spot for the shipping price, it says $35. If the shipping is $35 then it will be $279. If it's $55 then.. yeah, you do the math. Shipping outside of CA is $65, making it $309. Then again, I'm just waiting for a response to see what the $35 shipping fee is all about.

I didn't know the greddy evo2 was already out. I've only seen the greddy sp2. How's it perform? Is it a deep powerful sound? Where could I find one for a 2g n/a?
