Can I turn crankshaft without risking damaging valves if camshaft sprocket in UP position?(Honda accord 1990)
Just installed engine head wonder if I can turn crankshaft and balancing shafts freely if I don't have timing belt on,and camshaft sprocket UP mark pointing directly up? (I saw some of the valves abit open before I installed the head,)

A valve would have to be open a significant amount to bash a piston on yours I'm pretty sure. Turn the crank slowly, stop if you feel any resistance as you come to TDC or 180 degrees, I assume you've got the plugs out so you won't be fighting compression....use the shortest wrench you can get away with to turn the crank, that way if you do make contact, you won't have a lotta force behind it.
But I think you'll be fine.
