Tamiya Impreza WRC '99 query

Hi everyone,

Just a quick query on the WRX '99 I have started. It gives the colour of the rear prop-shafts as colour X-8....which is Lemon Yellow!

Is this correct? I can't find an image of anyone else modelling it painted this colour, and nor can I find a photo of the real car from underneath.

Cheers in advance

You can just see the drive shafts behind the protective cowlings, this is the underside of Richard Burns 2000 Impreza, not quite lemon yellow but yellow all the same so in answer to your question, Yes, it is correct.

just for info, the prop shaft is the one that travels the length of the car all others are called drive shafts.

Well there you go. Many thanks for your prompt reply, BFF, thats a great photo.

I wonder what the reason for the colouring is? Painted or anodised?

I think (and don't quote me on this) they are encased in plastic, like a sort of lagging for extra protection against stones and rocks, but i'm not really sure.

Coo, I thought I recognised that photo. Thanks for using the image, BFF. Amaurosis, I've also got a few more pics in my Photobucket account from 2 open days at Prodrive's Subaru Rally and Aston Martin Racing garages. While there is nothing specific to the 1999 car, Prodrive do have a P2000 car (an upgraded 1999 chassis) in Safari setup on display and I tried to get as many pics as I could.

If you need bigger pics, I think I've still got the 1280x1024 somewhere.

HM.

Actually that is not a P2000 but a 1999 WRC. The silver instead of gold wheels might have thrown you off, but the holes in the bonnet are definitely not from a P2000. Same goes for the pedal-box and the radiator in the front. Also the P2000 made it's debut at Portugal in 2000 and the Safari rally was the round before that one

Cheers TvD. If I'd read my own pics, Prodrive put a display stand at the front f the car and actually call this a WRC 1999 car. D'oh!!
