Rough idle, runs rich. Floor the gas pedal smooths out.

I got a 91 ranger with 2.3 8 plug system. To start off. The truck was losing power and so i decided to change plugs on it drivers side. I knew the ones on passenger side were good. So i had to take the upper intake off to get to the last 2 plugs. So i did all that and put it back together. When i started it up it ran awful. Runs rich can smell it through exhaust. Motor shakes due to miss. It. Barely idles and sometimes pops through throttle body like a backfire. If i give it some gas about 3,000 rpm's it smooths out. I replaced the tps. Had 2 bad vacuum lines replaced them. Has new plug wires. I think its the air idle control but not sure. Its $93 new so i just dont want to buy it and that not be the problem. Any other suggestions

My guess is you are leaking vacuum through the intake manifold you took off or have a vacuum leak somewhere else. The fact that is got worse after taking off the intake manifold might be a clue. good luck
