If you have any old electronics laying around that will never be used again, tear them apart and see if there are any wires that can be used. Newer headphones usually have some rather thin wires. You could strip the outer shielding and use the inner wire, though it won't be able to be formed to shape as easily. You could use stretched sprue, I've done this many times. Really thin wire and magic markers can yield some rather convincing wires and hoses. Electric motors have some thin wire that's great for modeling (use the copper windings from the motor itself).
