Agreed. Headlights require a focused beam of light and the only way to get that is with the smallest possible source. For years we've been trying to make lights with kernels that are smaller than a filament; hence things like HID and arclights. An LED array would have to include 30-40 diodes at a minimum meaning they'd be huge and impossible to focus.
