Follow-up:
I removed the "appearance cover" from the engine and found (2) bare wires (1) grn and (1) yellow going into a connector that had (1) blk, (1) grn and (1) yellow wire. They were located straight back behind the oil filler tube in front of the fuel rail. I insulated each wire with tape, started the engine and all the problems were gone.
My question now is: Are there connectors available with wires that I can splice into what remains of the grn and yellow wires?
