no, the OZ rally isn't an evo. Its just a standard lancer with a body package, as well as some interior trim that is shared with the EVO ( i.e. brushed aluminum, white face guages, sports steering wheel, etc...) Its still a 2.0L 120 hp fwd econobox. ITs bigger than it used to be though, and might be able to take a 4g63t from an eclipse a bit easier than the old mirage, so you could possibly try to do a conversion if you aren't patient enough to actually wait for a definitive word on the real EVO. It also shares the same unibody with the EVO VII (whatever that means). I'm holding out for the real deal though.
The lancer seems like a neat car in its own right though, I think it is definitely an extremely attractive and sporty-looking car. Much better looking than alot of the other sub compacts on the Market right now in the US, Plus evo VII bodykits are already starting to surface. Might be a nice little tuner car to have if you don't want to shell out the big bucks for an EVO. I'm sort of irked by Mitsubishi not including a more powerful engine for the OZ rally edition, but if I always had my way an EVO would be sitting in my driveway right now.
