Hi all. This is Revell's 1959 Chevrolet Impala custom 2 'n 1. Since I hated the looks of the custom, I built the model factory stock. Under the pictures is a list of details I added.
DETAILS ADDED
Engine:
- Spark plug wires and looms
- Coolant temp sender, oil pressure sender, and wiring
- Throttle return springs and linkage
- Fuel line and hand-built pump
- Drive belt (masking tape)
- Power steering fluid hoses
Chassis:
- Brake hard lines, T-valves, and hoses
- Emergency brake cables
- Fuel line
- Coil springs (copper wire)
- Complete engine bay wiring harness (accurately colored wiring to lights, horns, alternator, etc.)
- Washer fluid hoses
- Battery cables
Interior:
- Seatbelts (masking tape) and buckles (.01" sheet plastic)
- Photoetch dash script, steering wheel center, ignition switch, ignition key, glovebox lock, ashtrays, and door handles (by Model Car Garage)
- Flocking
Body and exterior:
- Polished and waxed Model Master gloss black enamel
- Bare-Metal Ultra-Brite Chrome foil
- Photoetch hood script and emblem
- Photoetch side and rear emblems
- Photoetch door locks
- Photoetch rear license plate
- Photoetch wiper blades
- Sheet plastic and wire wiper arms (lower arms are kit parts)
- Functional realistic scissor-type hood hinges, each with six pieces of sheet plastic and five metal pins
- Photoetch front mesh (next to blinkers, above grille)
I also drilled out the exhaust tips and painted the tiny slots in the wheels with a wash. Overall, I think it turned out quite well. Feel free to comment or ask how I did things! Unlike some, I don't hold any "trade secrets." I'm happy to share my techniques! And I welcome any criticism so I can do a better job next time. Thanks!
