Re: Cost
I had to laugh...
Most of the cars for FF2 and FF3 were built at a place just up the street from me in Burbank. I had been in there a few times looking for work, but it just didn't seem like my kinda thing, but on more than one occasion I was given the "grand tour" of the things they were doing.
To be honest, I felt a little bad for the guys. Take one completely legitimate auto/movie customizing company; EASILY on par with the finest custom shops anywhere, give them a movie contract, then tell them they are going to fit "incredible hulk" fists on the side of a sport compact for a movie subtitled "Tokyo Drift." I could tell that the owner was trying to be proud of their big movie contract, but ashamed of the content sensing I was a real car guy. I reciprocated in kind: I told him about all of my days as an extra on sets like Charlie's Angles and Freaky Friday, as well as such short-lived shows as 10-8 and Wanda at Large. He understood exactly what I was saying.
The work they did was incredible and very respectable, but I could tell there was a bit of embarrasment happening.
