I do ac recharges at work all the time. usually lead to the customer coming back about a week later very angry. 2 things i suggest.
Get the system tested for leaks first.
and number one Make sure your clutch is kickin in on your ac compressor when you turn it on. You should be able to hear it kick in from inside. other wise have someone watch it as you turn the ac dial. More than often your problems are in the clutch. and if you end up getting recharge dont do it yourself. take it too a shop. its about 100 bucks at my work but if your system has been w/o refrigerant in the lines. chances are the lines need reoiled and could be rusting. the machines they use will also inject rust inhibitors and will re oil the inside of the lines to prevent further corrosion.
