Band adjustments require a very specific torque to set the clearance between the band and the drum. This affects shift quality and the adjustment will deteriorate with use over time.

this setting is not something to be guessed at and say it's good enough. you need a click type inch/lb torque wrench and the specifications for the specific transmission in your vehicle as each model has a slightly different method for the adjustment.

The throttle cable is usually adjusted from the engine end and can be done anytime.
