If it has any power at all your S10 should be burning rubber threw 2nd as well.
You might want to put weight in the rear but traction bars or bigger tires work too. I have known a few people that have done v8+S10 combo and none of them could hold traction. Even a hopped up 4.3 will spin the daylights out of the tires.
