Check the FAQ for a How-To on Molding making and resin casting. Dag65 did a great job.
www.micromark.com has a good resin starter kit.
I've got a Saleen S7 diecast I want to cast in resin, but haven't gotten around to it. Just order the supplies and give it a shot. It can be done, but will probably take a few tries getting a good mold, depending on the complexity of the model your reproducing and your skills.
