Not to rain on anyone's parade about GT4, but while Sony has confirmed there will be 400-500 cars in the game, they have not released an "official" list. The list here has been floating around GT4 forums for the past 6 months and is probably someone's want-to-have list. While it might be somewhat close, I wouldn't get hopes up on any of the cars you haven't previously seen in a GT game. Jan'04 is suggested US release timeframe.
As for modeling, GT4 will definitely get me motivated and give me inspiration for modeling. GT2 was the reason I started building JGTC cars.
