Transmission troubles 2005 Impala

OK pick yer brain time.

Got a 2005 Impala with 121K on the clock. I had a valve in the tranny replaced about a year and a half ago. That valve made it shift smooth.

Today coming home the engine started picking up RPM and the check engine light came on. I limped it home and checked the fluid. Fluid is burned and if I shut the engine off and restart it, I can move the car.

Ok my friends...whats wrong? How much is it this time?

BTW it sounds like a bad power steering pump.

Burnt fluid and noise usually the end for a trans, also the code would help.

Trans is shot. Something failed and is plugging the filter which makes the "bad power steering pump" sound.

The Transmission went.

I took it to a very good transmission shop who I have reason to praise them..and the shop was in McKinney, Texas. I will supply the name under request.

They were honest and fairly cheap. Got a 2 years warranty on the tranny.

The original problem with the valve was a bandaid by the chevy dealer and not the repair.

It seemed that the clutch material on second gear had finally went and the material was gumming up the tranny. Not allowing fluid thru.

It now has 2000 miles on the rebuild and is performing flawlessly.

The man that rebuilt my tranny took me in the shop and explained it all to me.

The car is fine and hope it makes 200000 miles. Its well on its way now.
