side mouldings

hey can sum people post sum pics of their car, who has shaved the side mouldings off. Im thinkin whether or not i should. thnx

Well, since we're on the subject....how do you go about filling in where the moldings were if i take em off? Do i have to weld a sheet of metal or could i just use like bondo and/or fiberglass? Also, the same question goes for shaving antenna, rear windshield shooter nozzle, and rear windshield wiper, and could i do this stuff myself?

well i don't have any pics but i would suggest it. my rex is completly shaved and it look nice. and yes you would weld in a piece of sheet metal and then fiberbond/bondo it. i wouldn't do that yourself without some practice so go and try to shave you emblems becaue they are just 2 little holes and are easy to do. you don't really have to weld anything into them either. then a way to shave off your squirters without welding is to open your hood and put fiberglass sheets under the the holes(like 2/3 sheets) and then put fiberbond to fill the hole then bondo to smooth it. hope some of this helps and i'll try to find some pics of my car for ya.

hey no problem dude, thats what forums are for;) So i was think about just filling the sqaure holes in with bodo and leaving the side as it is, with the little valley still there.

yea another thing i've been seeing down here is people takin off there side moldings and then puttin in side marker lights in the fenders where the molding used to be. looks pretty cool

i got pics of mine on the tld site, just click the tld sig pic. I did it a ghetto way with some JB weld shit, looked good at the time and was a decent temp fix, but its coming back at me now. Also, when you remove the trim, don't just pull it off, take it off right, otherwise you will bend the metal around the holes and have to fix that before you can fill it in.

what did u guys use to fill in the sqare holes?? I tried bondo, but it just popped out. I think i might try sum of that drywall fibergless mesh or whatever.Any suggestions.

yea, try some fiberglass on the back of it first, then some bondo on the front of it. The reason I say from the back is it is a hell of a lot easier doing that shit from that side without it popping back out later down the road, half of mine are starting to come out right now, but I don't want to fill them because I need those for my side skirts later down the line.

what is the "correct" way to pull off the side mouldings im going to the dismantler to day and im prob gonna by a side thingy from him because mine has lil dents in it on left side

i can never pull them off wiothput breaking the clips, so in my opinion there is no easy way. If u wanted them in mint shape ud have to get them from inside the doors.

omg, everyone thinks that you have to pull all your interior out to get those things off. No you don't. There is a tool made for removing panels, to get those clips out without breaking them, or reducing the chances of breaking them. Its like a flat head screwdriver with a little split in the middle of it for it to grab the clip and squeeze the sides together, that would be the correct way on removing them. But i would actually just say paint over them. Its a lot easier to do and does't look bad at all.

how much does it cost? probably not much man, its a simple tool
