Oil drip...oil cooler lines?

i'm pretty certain my oil cooling lines are weeping at both ends of connections. i would like to replace them but cannot find these parts to do so. does anyone have any suggestions where to look and estimated price? also while i was scraping grit and grease off with putty knife, i noticed that the "aluminium housing" that the oil filter screws onto and two oil lines leave, is hanging by two of three bolts. one of the holes has completly snapped off and the other has a crack in it. does anyone have the technical name for this "aluminium housing"? its a 98 LS 4.3l, 2dr vin"w" 5spd manual nv3500.

Call your local Shivalay stealership parts department. They can set you straight on the spin on filter/hose adapter and hoses, they are a relatively cheap fix, at least on my old Suburban they were. It was less than 100.00 if I remember right.

tahnks chip. now my next question, is this a job that can be performed by someone whose mechanical experience thus far has been oil changes, shocks, water pump and idler pulley?

The aluminum block is called the "remote oil filter mount". Check out your local boneyard for a replacement.

Simple enough job and can be done without special tools. Don't bother with the dealership lines. If you buy the lines at the dealer, you'll get the same lines you have now, and they'll leak just like the lines you have now!

Most auto parts stores have replacement lines made by Dorman. They are cheaper, better quality and will last longer than the GM lines, but eventually they will leak too.
